P2HD Clinic a Success for All
On Tuesday May 22nd, Specialized Communications Corp. held a Panasonic P2HD Clinic at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards. P2HD Clinics continue to be held around the country, but with nearly 100 attendees, this was by far the largest such event held to date.
Attendees were treated to dynamic presentations by Jan Crittenden and Art Aldrich of Panasonic on the nature of P2 and how to acquire P2 data for non-linear editing. As an added bonus, Mike Downey gave a presentation at midday on how to streamline post-production workflow with Edius Broadcast software. All speakers were dynamic and engaging, captivating their respective audiences with witty, relevant anecdotes and real solutions for users. Even if attendees were devotees of competitive products, the presenters displayed an amazing range of knowledge and were able to intelligently field questions regarding editing systems across the spectrum.
In the main conference room, visitors viewed the presenters' demonstrations via projector as well as on two 50 inch HD plasma monitors provided by Noventri Digital Signage. In the equipment demo room next door, attendees were able to test the Panasonic HPX2000, an HVX200, and an HVX500 on a professionally lit display. Many thanks to Serious Grip and Electric for the fantastic lighting setup! While not checking out the cameras, attendees viewed additional demonstrations from Grass Valley and checked out hot new items like the P2 Gear, the P2 Mobile and more.
Since the clinic was held at the Marriott, amenities were plentiful as well. Guests enjoyed beverage service during the event and a plentiful deli-style buffet for lunch in the Grand Ballroom. Later in the day a raffle was held. Attendee Kevin MacDonald won a free copy of Edius Broadcast; Dave Cote won an 8GB P2 card; Jason Ritchey and Angel Perez each won an SCPAN6000 battery and DJ Demangone came away with a limited edition Specialized Communications Leatherman Tool! The remaining participants then gathered for evening cocktails and some exotic food spreads. Clearly a good time was had by all and those fortunate enough to attend left with full bellies… and fuller minds!
